- Corporate/institutional piece: consider whether it fits better as an About-us update.
- No figures or contracts, as Danpat explicitly refuses the «company report» format.
- Club names as spoken: Mogliano Rugby, Villorba Rugby, San Marco, Benetton Rugby; Imoco Volley Conegliano; Treviso Calcio.
For anyone who loves Italian rugby, Treviso is not a city like any other: it is the epicentre. And that is where Danpat chose to return in late July 2025, after almost fifteen years abroad, with a clear idea: tell the sport from closer up and, around the sport, build a communication project. A year later, in the video explaining why he has been less present on the channel, he describes what that idea has become.
What is DanPat Sport?
It is the company founded in Treviso with Tommaso and Roberto, the “fantastic travelling companions” of the project. Danpat calls it a Sport Media Company that goes well beyond YouTube: out of the DanPat Sport journey came a second channel, DanPat Calcio, and the DanPat Sport channel itself. The heart, though, is still rugby and the community that has followed DanPat Rugby since 2021.
The part least visible from the channel is the club work. The stated goal is to help clubs grow and tell their story, and this year it actually happened: local partnerships with Mogliano Rugby, Villorba Rugby and San Marco, and wider-ranging projects with Benetton Rugby. The scope then widened beyond the oval ball, with Imoco Volley of Conegliano, three-time club world champions and, in Danpat’s view, probably the strongest club side in the world, and with Treviso Calcio, just back in professional football in Serie C.
The office in town and the wall of photos
At the start there were two of them, in an office in the centre of Treviso. Then the team grew, and with it a wall that is now covered in photos: the players who have come through for an interview or a podcast. Plenty of followers have already visited, for one reason or another, and the invitation to drop by is explicit.
It is in that room that you measure the distance between the old channel and today’s project. Before, Danpat says, it worked like this: “I woke up today and I feel like talking about that rugby match”, the way every YouTuber starts. Now there is a team to run, and a project that cannot live on that impulse alone.
The books and the emotions
No numbers, by choice. Danpat has no interest in the “company report” that is fashionable among YouTubers, with earnings and contracts on display: the company involves many people, and some things are not the business of the channel’s community. What he offers is a snapshot: on the business side things are moving with some difficulties, but more or less in line with forecasts, faster in some areas and slower in others. Accounting, not passion.
“It isn’t one contract more or one contract less that takes away the emotions we have lived through.”
The risk, he acknowledges, is the one he sees in many projects at the moment they “want to get serious”: losing that first connection with the community. This year he felt it. And the next step is partly about fixing that.
The new website: DanPat Rugby’s home
The novelty shown in the video, already previewed to members, is danpatrugby.com: “our home from here on”. Inside are recaps of every video as articles in the news section, each with the transcript and the full video, plus the video section with interviews and live reactions, the events and an about us page. That is where the project’s next stop runs through: the community trip to Scotland for the 2027 Six Nations.
